Las Vegas shooting probe uncovers Boston references

Boston officials were told that Paddock researched hotels near Fenway Park, but few if any rooms have a clear view of the stands at the venerable park. Earlier in the summer, Paddock booked hotel rooms overlooking other festivals in Las Vegas and Chicago.

Paddock's potential targets also included the most recent Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, which was held August 3 to August 6 in Grant Park, the officials said.

Now, officials are looking into reports that Paddock also researched locations in Boston including Fenway Park and the Boston Center for Performing Arts.

For the postseason, Boston Police Department tactical teams will be stationed inside Fenway and the surrounding perimeter, and additional police detail officers will be on site, including undercover plain clothes officers monitoring the crowds, the team said Friday.

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker issued a statement to NBC saying, '"We and many others are fully plugged in on that investigation, and there is no imminent threat to anything in Massachusetts'".

Paddock, 64, booked a room in a Chicago hotel but did not show up, the officials said.

There is no evidence Paddock ever traveled to Boston.

Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said Wednesday that authorities are investigating whether or not Paddock had accomplices in Sunday's massacre that left 59 people dead and more than 500 injured.

According to NBC, The city of Boston was a potential target for the Las Vegas shooter.

Though it is unclear what his intentions with those actions, he ultimately chose to mount an attack from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino across the street from the Route 91 Harvest country music festival held last weekend.
